Elephant Grass Print Collective (EGPC) and TH’YARC Printshop together celebrate  the print work of 15 print artists in the exhibit, The Elephant and TH’YARC. Recent works by Cecil Day, Janet Larkman, David Cain, Bonnie Baker, Ivan Blades, Janel Warmington, Annie Harding, Jane McBurney Racine, Margriet Knubben, Micheline Gushue, Isao Sanami-Morrill, Virginia Stoddard, Jennie Lamont, Donna Boyko and Margo Tassi, go on view in the Chapel Gallery, ARTsPLACE, June 8 to July 6.  The exhibit then travels to Yarmouth County Museum Gallery,Yarmouth,  August 18 to September 13.

On turning one year old in January 2014, EGPC tasked itself with the goal of mounting an annual show, linking the Collective to a wider printmaking community. When TH’YARC Printshop independently invited EGPC to be part of an exhibit in Yarmouth, two joint exhibits came about. The Elephant and TH’YARC illustrates the richness of printmaking in Southwestern Nova Scotia. Etching in traditional and experimental ways is the TH’YARC Printshop’s main activity although members use linocuts,  woodcuts, collograph and monotype.  Printmakers at EGPC also utilize similar relief printing techniques while exploring newer non-toxic materials and practices such as soy based inks, etching with UV light, and mixed medium.

EGPC gratefully acknowledges the support of Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS) in funding The Elephant and TH’YARC exhibition.
